Welcome to the Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute, a joint venture between the School of Education and the Center for Public Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University. The institute is committed to the expansion of public dialogue and participation in the important issues facing K-12 public education. The institute provides research, analysis, training, and service to education policy-makers, school systems, citizens and the larger school community.
While many regional and national organizations provide outstanding resources for educational decision makers, CEPI is the first institute to focus primarily on policies developed and implemented in Virginia. Our goal is to serve as a resource for the Governor’s staff, legislators, state agencies, local school boards, and administrators as they work to shape educational policies for the more than one million public school students of the Commonwealth. We are excited to work with you in our shared commitment to the importance of public education.
I invite you to explore our Web site and bookmark CEPI, as it is designed to keep you up to date on the issues and events affecting education in Virginia. I call your attention to the "Policy Briefs" and "Ed Law Newsletter" section. We hope these non-advocacy briefings will provide insight and assistance to citizens and policy-makers in the important public dialogue relating to K-12 education.
We hope you visit us frequently and we welcome your comments.
