Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute
Dr. William C. Bosher, Jr., Executive Director
Kathleen G. Harris, Deputy Executive Director

January 18, 2006

The Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute is pleased to report the release of the online publication, va-Lead, funded by The Wallace Foundation through the Virginia State Action for Education Leadership Project (SAELP). The catalog may be accessed on the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) website at http://e-lead.org  (click on States), as part of IEL's e-Lead initiative.

Virginia SAELP conducted a statewide solicitation for programs to include in the catalog, and received more than 130 proposals. We anticipate that the catalog will provide practitioners an invaluable tool in addressing professional development needs. Designed in a user-friendly format, the catalog is organized by categories reflecting the Virginia performance standards.

Virginia SAELP is delighted that the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) is the host for the website design and on-line publication of this catalog. We understand that IEL envisions the Virginia catalog as the first of 50 statewide catalogs.

Virginia SAELP is pleased to participate in this effort and is grateful to The Wallace Foundation for its ongoing support of these valuable efforts to improve leadership and learning in public education."
