Optional Conference Special Event: Bus Tour of Historic Richmond and Hanover Courthouse and Dinner at Michelle’s at Hanover Tavern.

By special arrangements, conference planners are excited to offer a private bus tour of historic Richmond followed by dinner at Michelle’s at Hanover Tavern.   The tour is inclusive of transportation, entrance fees, and all dinner arrangements.

Participants will depart the Omni at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25th by bus for a 90 minute guided tour through downtown Richmond, including Monument Avenue (one of America’s most beautiful boulevards and the only street in the United States that is a National Historic Landmark.), Shockoe Slip (the city’s oldest mercantile district), Church Hill (Richmond’s first historic district), and Tredegar Iron Works. Professional guides from Discovery Richmond will enlighten guests with little known facts and stories from the past.

After the guided tour of downtown Richmond, participants will enjoy the scenic drive to the Hanover Courthouse area, where the historic district includes both the courthouse and the venue for dinner, the exclusive Michelle’s @Hanover Tavern, offering new southern cuisine focusing on local and regional ingredients. It was at the courthouse that Patrick Henry participated in the Parson's Cause case (1763) and gave a thrust to the American Revolution. And, who knows? Perhaps participants will catch a glimpse of Mr. Patrick Henry himself, a frequent guest at the tavern and one-time bartender there as well.

The all-inclusive cost of this private tour and elegant dinner is $65 per person and seating is limited to 30. Enrollment and payment must be made in advance on the conference registration form.  Conference planners reserve the right to cancel the tour for insufficient registration.  Monies will be refunded if cancelled by conference planners.  Refunds will be made for individual cancellations, if written notification is received by CEPI no later than Thursday, March 27, 2008.
